SOUTH FLORIDA, Floridaβ€”A trust in the name of Bill Self, a two-time national champion at the University of Kansas, and wife Cindy Self purchased a townhouse in South Florida for $7.55 million.

Dr. Anthony Digioia, an orthopedic surgeon from Pittsburgh, and wife Cathleen A. Digioia, sold their 5,480-square-foot Unit 5 in Ocean Place Villas at 4215 S. Ocean Blvd. in Highland Beach. Emily Roberts of Douglas Elliman represented the sellers in the deal, while Anna Kuzminova of Coldwell Banker Realty worked with the buyer.

The price equated to $1,378 a square foot.

It last traded for $5.1 million in 2016, so the oceanfront condo gained in value. That’s a reflection of the strong increase in oceanfront property values in Palm Beach County, which has led the nation in attracting wealthy residents from other states over the past few years.

Built in 2009, this townhouse features five bedrooms, 6.5 bathrooms, an elevator, a bar, a pool, a three-car garage, a media room, a balcony and a roof deck.

The Selfs aren’t new to Highland Beach. They have owned a condo at 2727 S. Ocean Blvd. since 2016, but it’s less than half the size of this new townhouse.

Bill Self has been the head basketball coach for the Kansas Jayhawks since 2003. He led the team to national championships in 2008 and 2022, and his teams made four appearances in the Final Four. He was named AP College Coach of the Year in 2009 and 2016.

In 2021, KU signed Self to a “lifetime contract” that automatically renews every year.

Self wasn’t able to coach the Jayhawks in the NCAA tournament this year as he was recovering from a heart procedure
